Ukrainian agricultural export to China has increased by 4 times since the beginning of 2013

Ukrainian agricultural export to China has increased by 4 times since the beginning of 2013. By the end of the year, it will have increased even more due to the export of corn. Besides, next year Ukraine plans to start soy and barley export to China, and then wheat and canola. Thus, China will become one of the major buyer of Ukrainian grain. It was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.

In 2012, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Ukraine and China was 270 million USD. For the first half of this year, we have already had 380 million USD. Thus, our export has increased by 4 times. However, this index does not include the export of some grain, particularly corn. By the end of the year, we will have put 2 million tons of corn, said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk .

Mykola Prysyazhnyuk pointed out that the Ukrainian delegation initialled phytosanitary protocols of soybean and barley export during its visit to China in September. Besides, next year Ukraine plans to complete the necessary documentation for the export of wheat and canola to China.

China harvests a significant amount of grain, but it is not still enough to meet the needs of the domestic market. They are constantly increasing. Thus, China will soon compete for Ukrainian grain purchase volumes with the Middle East, the Gulf States and the European Union. In the future, the Chinese market will become the main importer of domestic grain, said the Minister.
