In Ukraine, the total production of grains, pulses and groats will amount to nearly 41.3 MMT in 2009. This forecast was announced by Anatoliy Prokopenko, deputy head of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
18 MMT of grain will be harvested in the Steppe zone, also 18 MMT in the Forest-Steppe, and 5.3 MMT in the Forest. “In principle, the Y2009 crop formation passed in normal conditions. However the droughts in April and the beginning of the summer resulted in lower grain crop yields,” noted A. Prokopenko.
