Ukraine's economic news MHP keeps poultry sales at 2011 level in H1, 2012
MHP (Myronivsky Hliboproduct), the largest poultry producer in Ukraine, in the first half of 2012 maintained its sales at the level of the same period in 2011, at 181,600 tonnes, according to a company report on the stock exchange.
The average price of poultry in January-June increased by 28%, to UAH 17.14 per kilogram (excluding VAT).
At the same time, the company in the second quarter of this year reduced sales by 1%, to 96,560 tonnes. During this period, the average price of broiler chicken totaled UAH 17.48 per kilogram (excluding VAT), which is 25% up on the same period in 2011.
MHP said that consumer demand for poultry in the first half of 2012 was quite high and the company managed to sell almost 100% of the poultry produced.
MHP in January-June increased poultry exports by almost 30%, to 20,000 tonnes.
In addition, in the first half of 2012 MHP sold mainly for export 94,750 tonnes of sunflower oil, which is 12% up from the same period in 2011. In the second quarter, edible oil sales increased by 27%, to 49,190 tonnes.
The average price of sunflower oil in the first half of 2012 was $1,109 per tonne, which is 15% down on January-June 2011, in the second quarter - $1,131 (a 13% fall).
MHP in January-June sold 198,000 tonnes of maize at an average price of $230 per tonne, 34,800 tonnes of wheat at a price of $184 per tonne and 17,000 tonnes of soybeans at $435 per tonne.
MHP said it started signing forward contracts to export agricultural crops in 2012.
