Ukraine will spend Chinese credit for grain elevators, fleet
USD 1.5 billion, which Ukraine should use according to the terms of the USD 3 billion credit of the Export-Import Bank of China, for the purchase of technology, equipment and services from the Chinese side, will go to construction of grain elevators, grain hoppers, ships and other logistic elements, necessary for ensuring supply of grain crops to China.
Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told Ukrinform, who was a co-chair at the third meeting of the bipartite commission on cooperation in agriculture.
This will be equipment and technology aimed at logistics in order that it will be possible to fulfill this contract, Prysiazhniuk has said.
According to him, at the expense of this part of credit the existing elevators are planned to be renewed, as well as a new port elevator is planned to be constructed. Currently, the state allotted the land in Illichivsk, which will allow constructing modern and the most powerful port elevator with the necessary volume for grain storage, the Minister noted.
In addition, an issue is discussed for the purchase of a number (from 5 to 10) grain hoppers-ships, which will also allow fulfilling this contract.
The most important thing is that we purchased the equipment, which would not oust and push out our producer. Therefore, the task complicates. So we had a long and considerate approach, so that, first, do not impinge upon our producer, second, to bring equipment, which correspond to fulfillment of the contract, and at the same time, that it was qualitative, the Minister added.
