Ukraine: Viktor Slauta suggests raising prices for export grain
Ukraine’s Vice-Premier Viktor Slauta said this at a briefing for the Odesa media. According to him, a major task of the Ukrainian agro-industrial sector is ensuring a high price for export grain. However, as he noted, certain fears arise about this because ample grain stocks from the previous harvests remain in the world market.
He also pointed out that the government would do its best to raise the profit margin of Ukrainian farmers to at least 30%. In particular, the Cabinet already conducts appropriate work for this purpose with both grain traders and transport companies, as well as with inspecting and supervising bodies. In the Minister’s opinion, Ukraine will be able to sell roughly 22 MMT of grain this year, whereas its own need is at most 7 MMT.
