Ukraine. Vice Premier Kolesnikov: Rent for term exceeding 15 years may become first stage of land reform
It is not worth hurrying with the sale of the farm land in Ukraine, since the farmers had not yet felt a real land rate, Vice Premier Borys Kolesnikov believes.
"At the first stage, there can be rent with guarantees for the term of 15 years that can serve as a pledge," he said at the lobby of the Seventh Yalta annual meeting.
According to his words, under such term of rent both investments and rent will be guaranteed to farmers.
Kolesnikov also noted that he is a supporter of cattle-breeding development in Ukraine with an emphasis on cattle breeding.
"For today, Ukraine can produce 100 million tons of grain (a year), a grain export price - USD 200/ton, for one kilogram of meat three kilograms of grain are necessary. The Ukrainian GDP in the agriculture can grow threefold at the expense of intensive cattle-breeding," he explained his position.
Vice Premier underscored that the marketing problem is absent for Ukrainian agrarians, since population on the earth grows quicker than production of foodstuffs.
A moratorium acts in Ukraine on the farm land sale.
In total in Ukraine, there are over 60 million ha of lands, including 41.8 million ha of the farm land, 33 million ha of arable lands.
