Ukraine to harvest 46 m tonnes of grain in 2012, says Yanukovych
Ukraine will harvest almost 46 million tonnes of grain this year, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"The output of grain and leguminous crops is expected at the level of around 46 million tonnes," the president said while opening the 24th international exhibition Agro 2012 in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He also praised the rapid acceleration of agricultural production, and the export of farm products to other countries. According to the president, Ukraine has supplied to the foreign markets some 9 billion standard units of agricultural products since the beginning of the year, which is 35% more than over the same period in 2011.
As reported, in 2011 Ukraine harvested a record 56.7 million tonnes of grain.
