Ukraine third in 2008-2009 in terms of coarse grain exports, says WTO
Ukraine has become the world's third country after the United States and Argentina in terms of coarse grains exported in 2008-2009 and the world's sixth country after the United States, the European Union, Canada, Russia and Australia in terms of wheat and wheat flour exports, according to the Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
According to the website of the WTO, Ukrainian grain exports amounted to 10.7% of global sales, while the export of wheat and wheat flour totaled 9.5%.
Ukraine also ranked sixth in 2007 in terms of the export of oilseeds and non-fat dry milk and seventh in terms of cheese exports.
World agricultural exports have nearly tripled in 20 years, and more recently Belarus, Chile, China, India, Ukraine and the United States have broken into the top exporters' lists for some specific products, the WTO Agriculture Committee learnt.
