Ukraine the leading supplier of soft wheat to Morocco - ONICL
From June to November, Ukraine exported to Morocco 0.6 million tons of soft wheat, which is 53% of all grain imported into that country during the said period. Thus, Ukraine has become the leading supplier of this product to this North African country, beating its main competitors, France (27%) and Russia (14%).
It is reported by APK-Inform referring to Morocco's National Committee for Cereals and Legumes (ONICL).
"From June to November 2012, Ukraine exported to Morocco 0.6 million tons of soft wheat. In addition, significant volumes of barley (12.6 tons) and corn (6.9 tons) were delivered to the domestic market of Morocco. Thus, the total volume of grain exports from Ukraine to the North African country reached 0.63 million tons, which puts it on the 2nd place among the exporters in that direction after Brazil," ONICL informs.
According to analysts of APK-Inform, from July to October of the current year, Morocco imported 480 thousand tons of wheat from Ukraine, which is 12% of the total export of Ukrainian grain. At the same time, in 2010/11 and 2011/12 MY supplies from Ukraine to Morocco's market were negligible (less than 1%).
