Ukraine. Sunflower seeds export cut
Exporters have essentially reduced the export of sunflower seeds because of problems involved in VAT refunds, says Stepan Kapshuk, director general of the UkrOilProm association.
In his words, last marketing year 767,000 tons of sunflower was exported, and in 6 months of the current MY 67,000 tons. "In February, 4,200 tons of sunflower was exported, against 149,000 tons last February," Kapshuk noted.
He also says the fall in the export of sunflower seeds will not lead to essential reduction of purchase prices of the raw material, because seed processors are building up their production capacities, and are ready to produce more sunflower oil.
There is a great competition for sunflower among producers, and now the price of sunflower is USD 400 per ton.
