Ukraine. Summer crops sown on 1.047,8 million hectares
By the beginning of April, Ukraine's agricultural enterprises of all categories sowed summer crops on 1.047,8 million hectares, including reseeding over perished winter crops and permanent grasses, which is 97.3% of the like 2009 period, the State Statistics Committee reported.
Summer grains and legumes (except for corn) were sown on 834,600 hectares (7% down on the year), including barley on 632,100 hectares (13.6% down).
Under the latest reports of the agricultural policy ministry, 26.9 million hectares will be sown for the 2010 harvest, including 16.6 million hectares of summer crops (7.3 million hectares of grains and legumes, 6.3 million hectares of technical crops, and 2.8 million hectares of fodder crops.
