Ukraine sowed spring grains throughout 6.8 mln ha
As of May 13, Ukraine sowed spring grains and leguminous plants throughout 6.82 mln ha, an increase of 3% compared to the same date of the previous year, declared Julia Tymoshenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Last year, the index totaled 6.61 mln ha, noticed the Prime Minister.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, agricultural economies of Ukraine plan to sow spring crops for the harvest-2009 throughout 16 mln ha, including 7.7 mln ha of spring grains and legumes (0.3 mln ha of wheat, 3.5 mln ha of barley, 2.5 mln ha of maize), 3.5 mln ha of sunflower, 0.6 mln ha of soybean, and nearly 2 mln ha of feed crops
