Ukraine seaports’ net gain almost doubled in 2009, up to 1.8 billion hryvnia

Last year, according to provisional data, Ukrainian commercial sea ports’ net profit increased by 97.1% in comparison with 2008, up to 1.834.137 hryvnia. In 2009, the ports’ revenues rose 44.1%, up to 10.293.632 hryvnia, while costs at the same time were up 36 percent, at 8.459.495 hryvnia. The ports’ payments to the state budget grew by 2.22 times, up to 1.633.372.4 hryvnia, UNIAN reports citing the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine.
 
15 seaports, the Ministry of Transport said, increased in 2009 its revenues. Illichivsk port gain amounted to 285 million hryvnia, up 2.35 times over 2008, Mariupol port - 2,2 times, to 351 million hryvnia, Odessa port - in 1.25-fold, to 371 million hryvnia, Yuzhny port -  2.36-fold, to 557.900.000 hryvnia.
 
Skadovski port showed a 12-fold slump in net gain, down from 645.000 to 54.000 hryvnia. Besides, the port of Yalta ended up last year with a net loss of 4 million hr., a twofold drop as compared to 2008. The port of Ust-Danube showed it gained 131.000 hr., against 512.000 hr. in 2008.
 
Overall volumes of commodities shipped via the Ukrainian seaports in 2009 amounted to 109.716.000 tons, a year-over-year 17 percent drop.
