Ukraine Says Winter Grains Sprouted on About 85% of Sown Area
Ukraine’s winter grains, mostly winter wheat, sprouted on about 85 percent of planted areas as of Jan. 26, the Agriculture Ministry said.
Of 7.11 million hectares (17.56 million acres) on which winter grains sprouted, plants in good condition accounted for about 27 percent, or 1.9 million hectares, the ministry said today on its website.
Weak grains were seen on 2.36 million hectares, and satisfactory plants on 2.84 million hectares as of Jan. 26, the ministry said.
