Ukraine. President order government to ensure proper use of grain
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has ordered the Cabinet of Ministers to take measures to ensure the proper use of grain of the 2010 harvest and defend the interests of domestic farmers, the presidential press service has reported.
In particular, the government was ordered to take measures to enhance the effectiveness of the Agrarian Fund's activities, ensure rapid response to a change in prices on the domestic grain market, as well as to accumulate the necessary amount of grain in the state food reserve. The Cabinet of Ministers was also instructed to take measures to streamline the activities of the organized agrarian market and stimulate the entry of farmers on the market.
In addition, the government should analyze the practice of conducting customs procedures during the export of grain from Ukraine and take measures for their improvement.
At the same time, the head of state recommended that Ukraine's prosecutor general check the compliance with the requirements of the legislation during the customs control of grain that is exported from Ukraine.
As UKRINFORM reported, Ukrainian First Deputy Agriculture Minister Serhiy Melnyk said on September 21 that Ukraine's grain harvest in 2010 should total 38 million tons in net weight.
