Ukraine: nearly 50% of winter crops sowings to be in good condition
As of January 14, winter grains sowings in Ukraine were in good condition throughout 3.94 mln ha, which totaled 46.1% from the general volumes of winter crops sowing areas. Winter grains areas with satisfactory conditions occupied 3.74 mln ha, or 43.9%, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
Besides, winter grains sowings throughout 10% of the general areas, or 0.85 mln ha were weak and thinned out.
Winter wheat sowings were in good condition throughout 3.08 mln ha – 46.4% of the areas, satisfactory condition – 2.9 mln ha (43.8%), weak and thinned condition – 0.64 mln ha (9.7%). Barley sowings were in good condition throughout 0.66 mln ha – 41.8% of the areas, satisfactory condition – 0.74 mln ha (46.6%), weak and thinned condition – 0.18 mln ha (11.6%).
As of January 14, 38.9% of winter rapeseed sowings were in good condition, 40% – satisfactory condition, 21.1% – weak and thinned condition.
According to data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the general condition of winter crops in Ukraine improved compared to the middle of December in 2009.
