Ukraine: maize harvest to total 15 mln tonnes - HydroMeteorological Center
In 2011, maize production volumes in Ukraine will total 15 mln tonnes, reported Tatyana Adamenko, Head of the agricultural department of the HydroMeteorological Center of Ukraine.
T.Adamenko marked that the potential of maize harvest is large enough, but the maximum level will reach 15 mln tonnes, because maize sowing areas in 2011 exceeded the last year results by nearly 1 mln ha. Despite some adverse weather conditions, maize sowings is still in good condition.
As a reminder, previously the HydroMeteorological Center increased its forecast of the general grain production in Ukraine in 2011 to the level of 44.5-45 mln tonnes.
