Ukraine lowered usage of mineral fertilizers
In 2009, Ukraine decreased volumes of application of mineral fertilizers by 16% compared to 2008, and therefore broke the positive tendency of increasing of usage of mineral fertilizers volumes, which dominated on the market beginning from 2000, declared the association Ukrainian club of agrarian business on March 31.
As a reminder, in 2008, Ukraine applied 1.06 mln tonnes of reactant of mineral fertilizers, but in 2009 – 0.98 mln tonnes only.
According to Andrew Tovstopyat, the expert of agrarian markets of Ukrainian club of agrarian business, in 2000-2001 period Ukraine applied mineral fertilizers throughout 25-30% of the general sowing areas, but in 2008, the index grew to the level of 69%. Due to the financial problems of agricultural producers, in 2009, the share of fertilized sowing areas totaled 63%.
