Ukraine increases meat production
In January-August 2010, Ukraine produced 1.775.4 million tons of meat of all kinds (live weight), up 6.3% compared to last year, according to the State Statistics Committee.
At the same time, milk production decreased by 3.6% to 7.871.8 million tons, production of eggs rose by 5.4% to 11.511.1 billion eggs.
As of September 1, 2010 in Ukraine the number of cattle amounted to 5.444.6 million heads, which is 3.0% less year-over-year. The pig stock grew by 12.3% to 8.428.6 million, sheep and goats - 2.9% to 2.123.1 million heads, poultry - 5.3% to 233.5 million.
