Ukraine increased winter grains sowing areas
According to data of State committee of Statistics of Ukraine, agrarians sowed winter crops, including rapeseed, for the harvest-2010 throughout the area of 10.1 mln ha, an increase of 287.3 thsd ha, or 2.9%, compared to the index of 2008.
Ukrainian agrarians sowed winter grains throughout 8.6 mln ha (up 304.9 thsd ha, or 3.7%), rapeseed – 1.4 mln ha (down 19.8 thsd ha, or 1.9%).
In the structure of of winter grains sowings, the share of winter wheat sowings totaled 77.9% (in the previous year – 78.8%), winter barley – 18.6% (15.3%), winter rye – 3.5% (5.9% – last year).
