Ukraine increased grain share by 0.7% in the general commodity exports

In January 2010, commodity exports from Ukraine totaled 3.01 bln USD, imports – 3.32 bln USD, which formed the growth of export indices by 23.6%, and imports – by 63% compared to January 2009 respectively.

According to data of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, the share of grains in the general volumes of commodity exports increased from 7.8% to 8.5% compared to January 2009. At the same time, the share of fats and oils of vegetable or animal origin decreased from 5.8% to 4.6%, the share of fertilizers – from 3.1% to 2.9%, oilseeds – from 3% to 0.9% compared to the same period of 2009.

Ukraine provided foreign trading contracts with partners from 169 countries of the world. The highest volumes of export supplies were provided to the Russian Federation – 21.7% from the general export volumes, Turkey – 6.6%, Italy – 4.5%, India – 3.4%, Belarus – 3.3%, Egypt and Germany – 3.2% each.

Ukraine received the majority of import supplies from the Russian Federation – 44.4%, China – 6.5%, Germany – 6.1%, Azerbaijan – 3.8%, Poland – 3.3%, Belarus – 3.1%, Italy – 2.8%.

In January 2010, exports of unmanufactured raw products totaled 2.1 mln USD, or 71.6% compared to January 2009 index. At the same time, Ukraine imported finished commodities, made from unmanufactured raw material, at the sum of 4.4 mln USD (up 3.2 times compared to the level of the previous year).

Ukraine received foreign unmanufactured raw products at the sum of 113 mln USD (up 44% compared to January 2009). Export volumes of finished commodities, made from unmanufactured raw material, totaled 217 mln USD, up 44.5% against the same period of the previous year.

In January 2010, credit balance deficit totaled 314 mln USD, in the same month of 2009 – positive balances at the level of 396.2 mln USD.
