Ukraine: in January-February commodity exports decreased by 38.6%, imports – by 47.5%
In January-February of 2009, commodity exports from Ukraine totaled 5.13 bln USD, imports – 5.84 bln USD. The export volumes decreased by 38.6% compared to January-February of 2008, imports – by 47.5%.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the share of grains in the general export volume increased from 0.6% to 8.7% compared to the same period of 2008, oilseeds increased from 0.6% to 3.1%. At the same time, fertilizers share decreased from 2.8% to 2.5%.
Ukraine provided foreign economic operation with partners from 181 countries of the world.
The Russian Federation received the major volumes of export supplies from Ukraine – 19.2% from general commodities exports, Turkey – 4.8%, Kazakhstan and Italy – 4.1%, Germany – 3.4%, Belarus – 3.3%, China – 3.1%.
And the Russian Federation also provided the major volumes of import supplies to Ukraine – 19.6%, Uzbekistan – 10.8%, Germany – 7.8%, Kazakhstan – 6.9%, China – 5.8%, Turkmenistan – 4.8%, Poland – 4.3%.
In February 2009, commodity exports from Ukraine decreased by 42.7%, compared to February 2008, and totaled the sum of 2.69 bln USD, imports lowered by 41.4% and totaled 3.8 bln USD.
The negative balance in February 2009 totaled 1.1 bln USD (in February 2008, the negative balance totaled 1.78 bln USD).
