Ukraine harvests almost 1.5 m tonnes of grain as of June 30
Ukraine had harvested 1.459 million tonnes of early grain and grain legumes as of June 30 from an area of 0.6 million hectares (5% of the planted area), the Agriculture Ministry's press service has reported.
Grain has been harvested in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhia and Kyiv regions.
The average crop yield is 24.6 centners per hectare, down from 30.8 centners in 2008.
Wheat has been harvested from 1% of the planted area, barley from 10% of the area, and rape from 5% of the area.
As reported, the Agriculture Ministry projected this year's grain harvest at 42-43 million tonnes, down from 53.3 million tonnes last year.
The ministry said the total harvest area for grain this year would come to 27 million hectares, including 12.9 million hectares of early grain crops, and in particular - 6.8 million hectares planted with wheat, 4.9 million with barley and 500,000 with rye.
