Ukraine harvests 28 million tons of grain as of August 10
Ukraine harvested 28.136 million tons of grain as of August 10, 2010 from an area of almost 11.4 million hectares (94%). The average yield of grain and leguminous crops is 24.7 quintals per hectare.
As of August 10, farmers threshed 17.49 million tons of wheat from an area of 6.19 million hectares (97% of the forecast), with the average yield being 28.2 quintals per hectare.
Farmers also harvested 9.13 million tons of barley from an area of 4.315 million hectares, or 98% of the forecast. The average yield of barley is 21.2 quintals per hectare.
As if August 10, Ukraine harvested 478,000 tons of rye, with the average yield being 17.8 quintals per hectare.
In addition, farmers also started harvesting buckwheat and millet. As of August 10, they threshed 9,800 tons of buckwheat from an area of 12,900 hectares, with the average yield being 7.6 quintals per hectare. They also harvested 13,700 tons of millet from an area of 7,700 hectares, with the average yield being 17.9 quintals per hectare.
Farmers also threshed 815,000 hectares of rape, and harvested 1.377 million tons of oilseeds, with the average yield being 16.9 quintals per hectare.
