The general harvest of grains and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2012 will be significantly lower compared to the last year results, declared Anatoliy Prokopenko, Deputy Head of the Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine, during the round table discussion "Harvest-2012 through the prism of the condition of winter crops sowings and prospects for spring sowing works", which takes place in Dnipropetrovsk on March 16.
According to him, grain production volumes will form the level of 40-42 mln tonnes. The average grain yield will also be below the average indices in recent years.
A.Prokopenko also noted that, according to meteorological data, agrarians will resow winter crops throughout the areas of 4.4 mln ha.
At the same time, the expert noted that the role of early spring crops will be insignificant, because agrarians will sow the crops throughout nearly 3.5 mln ha.
