Ukraine: grain stocks in Crimea lowered by 50%
In the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine), as of March 1, 2010, agricultural enterprises (except of small ones) and also enterprises, dealing with storage and processing of grains, kept 264.5 thsd tonnes of grains, down 49.6% compared to the same date of the previous year, informed the Main department of statistics in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
According to the announcement, wheat stocks in the Crimea totaled 149.3 thsd tonnes (down 60.5%), maize – 16.5 thsd tonnes (down 67.3%), barley – 78.4 thsd tonnes (up 24.9%).
Directly agrarian enterprises stocked 112.9 thsd tonnes of grains from the general volumes of grain carry-over stocks in the Crimea, including 42.7 thsd tonnes of wheat, 36.6 thsd tonnes of barley, 100 tonnes of rye, 16.4 thsd tonnes of maize. Granaries and grain processing enterprises stocked 151.6 thsd tonnes of grains.
Besides, as of March 1, 2010, the general sunflower seed stocks totaled 5.8 thsd tonnes, a decrease of 55% compared to March 1, 2009.
