Ukraine: Government and grain traders reached a compromise on the issue of grain export duties – N.Prysiazhnyuk

The Government of Ukraine and grain traders managed to reach a compromise on the issue of the present customs duties on grain exports, informed Nikolai Prysiazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

According to him, the Government made major concessions, and since the beginning of 2012 the VAT will be canceled for grain export operations.

The Minister explained that to date the specialized working group, including both representatives of the Government and large-scale agrairan companies, is developing the draft law, which will be introduced in the Parliament in the nearest working week.

At the same time, Petr Poroshenko, Head of the National Bank Council, does not share the optimism of N.Prysiazhnyuk. According to him, it is the significant achievement, but agrarians still need to wait for realization of those promises.

As a reminder, since July 1 to January 1, 2012, Ukraine imposed the export duties on wheat (9%, but not less than 17 EUR/t), maize (12%, but not less than 20 EUR/t), barley (14%, but not less 23 EUR/t).
