Ukraine exports nearly 30% of wheat to the European Union countries
During three recent marketing seasons, the European Union has become the most stable consumer of Ukrainian grains, especially wheat. In 2006/07 MY, the general export volumes of Ukrainian wheat to the EU totaled 940 thsd tons (28% from the whole Ukrainian exports in that period), in 2007/08 MY – 174 thsd tons (19%), and during nine months of 2008/09 MY, Ukrainian wheat exports grew to the level of 2.96 mln tons (31%).
In addition to such active foreign economc cooperation, trading companies from the countries of the EU are the main foreign investors of Ukrainian agro industrial complex, and suppliers of one third of various supplementary resources for the agro industrial complex (agricultural technical equipment, seed material, plant protectors).
