Ukraine Expects Commodities Exports To Germany To Rise If Free Trade Zone With EU Created
"We expect a rise in Ukrainian exports to Germany in course of further liberalisation of trade relations between Ukraine and the EU, including after signing an agreement on creation of a free trade zone," she said.
Zarudna pointed to the importance of leveling-off balance in hand the bilateral trade balance and increasing the volume of Ukrainian export.
She thinks for this Ukraine has to step up work on adaptation of its products to norms and standards of the European Union, to improve its quality, to push up the share of high technology products in its exports.
The ambassador recalls, the volume of goods Germany imported to Ukraine from January to May exceeds that of Ukrainian goods to Germany by USD 940 million, which is explained by sizeable amounts of German equipment and machine-building products Ukraine bought to modernise its agrarian and industrial sectors.
Ambassador Zarudna notes, one of the chief tasks of bilateral economic cooperation is to restore the 2008 trade volumes, when the turnover exceeded USD 10 billion, and building them up higher.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yanukovych ordered Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, Economy Minister Vasyl Tsushko, and Foreign Affairs Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko to prepare propositions for the negotiations with the EU on creation of the free trade zone.
In March, Yanukovych predicted that before March 2011 visa-free regime will have been established between Ukraine and the EU states and the free trade zone will have been created.
