Ukraine: draft law on imposition of the export duties for grains
On March 31, the government draft law #8321 on making of amendments to the Tax Codex of Ukraine and adoption of tariffs of the export duties for several varieties of grains was registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
To date the text of the draft law and supporting documentation are absent at the official web-site of the Verkhovna Rada. As a reminder, previously the Cabinet of Ministers worked out the draft law “On export duties rates for several varieties of grains”. In particular, the law project provides the following export duties for grains: wheat – 9% of the customs cost, barley – 14%, maize – 12%. The Agrarian Union of Ukraine applied to the Government with the request to withdraw the draft law. According to the Union, acceptance of the new law will inevitably cause the further fall of prices for grains and provide losses to Ukrainian agricultural producers.
