Ukraine decreased grain share by 2.4% in the general commodity exports

In the first quarter of 2010, commodity exports from Ukraine totaled 10.33 bln USD, imports – 11.8 bln USD, which formed the growth of export indices by 24.6%, and imports – by 20.7% compared to the first quarter of 2009 respectively.

According to data of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, the share of grain products in the general volumes of commodity exports decreased from 9.2% to 6.8% compared to the reporting period of 2009. At the same time, the share of fertilizers decreased from 2.6% to 2.3% compared to the same period of 2009, oilseeds – from 2.7% to 1.1%, respectively.

Ukraine provided foreign trading contracts with partners from 194 countries of the world. The highest volumes of export supplies were provided to the Russian Federation – 24.8% from the general export volumes, Turkey – 6.1%, Italy – 4.2%, Germany, Belarus – 3.5%, India – 3.4%, Germany – 3.3% and Poland – 3%.

Ukraine received the majority of import supplies from the Russian Federation – 38%, Germany – 7%, China – 6.8%, Poland – 4.1%, Belarus – 3%, the USA – 2.9%, Italy – 2.6%.

During three months of 2010, exports of customer-supplied raw materials totaled 9.9 mln USD, up 27.9% compared to January-March 2009 volumes. At the same time, Ukraine imported finished commodities, made from customer-supplied raw material, at the sum of 12.7 mln USD (up 38.9% compared to the level of the previous year).

Ukraine received foreign customer-supplied raw products at the sum of 424.6 mln USD (up 45.7% compared to January-March period of 2009). Export volumes of finished commodities, made from customer-supplied raw material, totaled 766.9 mln USD, up 61.4% against the same period of the previous year.

In the first quarter of 2010, credit balance deficit totaled 1.46 bln USD, during the first quarter of 2009 – 0.85 bln USD.

In March 2010, commodity exports from Ukraine grew by 24.7% compared to March 2009, and totaled 3.95 bln USD, imports grew by 20.5% and totaled 4.74 bln USD. In March 2010, credit balance deficit totaled 792 mln USD (in March 2009 – 766.5 mln USD).
