Ukraine decreased grain share by 1.6% in the general commodity exports

During January-February period of 2010, commodity exports from Ukraine totaled 6.39 bln USD, imports – 7.05 bln USD, which formed the growth of export indices by 24.7%, and imports – by 20.7% compared to January-February period 2009 respectively.

According to data of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, the share of fats and oils of vegetable or animal origin in the general volumes of commodity exports increased from 5.1% to 5.2% compared to the reporting period of 2009. At the same time, the share of grains decreased from 8.7% to 7.1% compared to the same period of 2009.

Ukraine provided foreign trading contracts with partners from 185 countries of the world. The highest volumes of export supplies were provided to the Russian Federation – 24.1% from the general export volumes, Turkey – 6.4%, Italy – 3.8%, Germany, Belarus and India – 3.4% each, and Poland – 3%.

Ukraine received the majority of import supplies from the Russian Federation – 39.7%, China – 7.6%, Germany – 6.9%, Poland – 3.9%, Belarus – 3%, Italy – 2.8%, Azerbaijan – 2.6%.

During two months of 2010, exports of unmanufactured raw products totaled 5.8 mln USD, up 3.5% compared to January-February 2009 volumes. At the same time, Ukraine imported finished commodities, made from unmanufactured raw material, at the sum of 8.1 mln USD (up 32.1% compared to the level of the previous year).

Ukraine received foreign unmanufactured raw products at the sum of 249.4 mln USD (up 46.5% compared to January-February period of 2009). Export volumes of finished commodities, made from unmanufactured raw material, totaled 482.8 mln USD, up 52.5% against the same period of the previous year.

In January-February 2010, credit balance deficit totaled 656.3 mln USD, during two month of 2009 – 711.6 mln USD.

In February 2010, commodity exports from Ukraine grew by 25.7% compared to February 2009, and totaled 3385.2 mln USD, imports lowered by 1.9% and totaled 3726.5 mln USD. In February 2010, credit balance deficit totaled 341.3 mln USD (in February 2009 – 1107.8 mln USD).
