Ukraine: Crimea increased winter crops sowing areas by 2.1%
The Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine) increased the sowing areas of grains and green feed for the harvest-2010 by 2.1% compared to the index of 2008 or 13.4 thsd ha, and reached the level of 646.9 thsd ha, declared the Main department of statistics of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
According to the announcement, grains sowing areas in the region increased by 2,5% or 14.9 thsd ha and totaled 602.6 thsd ha. In the structure of winter grains sowing areas, winter wheat share totaled 64.8% (in the structure of sowing areas for the harvest-2009 – 67.7%), winter barley – 34.9% (32%), winter rye – 0.1% (equal to the level of the previous year).
Agricultural enterprises of the region sowed winter crops throughout 456.9 thsd ha (94.3% to the areas of the harvest-2009), agricultural economies of the population – 190 thsd ha (127.8%).
As a reminder, the decree of the Council of the Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea dd. August 25, 2009, “About the process of preparation of agricultural enterprises of all forms of ownership in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea for providing of the sowing campaign of winter crops for the harvest-2010” determined the enlargement of winter crops sowing areas to the level of 664.2 thsd ha, including winter grains sowing areas – 650 thsd ha.
