Ukraine: Crimea increased spring crops sowing areas by 5.3%
As of June 1, 2010, agricultural enterprises of all categories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea sowed spring crops (taking into account resowing of perished winter crops) throughout the areas of 249 thsd ha, an increase of 5.3% (12.5 thsd ha) compared to the same date of the previous year, declared the Main department of statistics of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea.
Directly agricultural enterprises increased spring crops sowing areas by 11.7% - to 158.7 thsd ha, farmings of the population reduced the sowings by 4.4% - to 90.3 thsd ha.
As of June 1, 2010, agrarians sowed directly spring sowing areas throughout the areas of 242 thsd ha, an increase of 2.8% compared to June 1, 2009. The areas of resowed spring crops instead of perished winter crops totaled 7 thsd ha (up 6 times compared to 2009).
Agrarians sowed spring grains and leguminous plants (without maize) throughout 113.8 thsd ha from the general sowing areas of spring crops, up 2.8% compared to June 1, 2009.
Besides, in the winter and spring period, 23.3 thsd ha of winter crops sowings (5.4%) perished, including 13.1 thsd ha of winter grain sowings (3.3%), from the general winter crops sowing areas of 431.4 thsd ha for the harvest-2010.
