Ukraine: Crimea harvested 1.5 thsd ha of winter barley
As of June 15, 2010, agrarians of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine) harvested winter barley throughout 1.5 thsd ha and produced 3.7 thsd tonnes of the grain, announced Nikolay Polyushkin, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
According to him, in the Crimea 6 regions started the harvesting campaign of winter barley, which yield totaled 25.6 c/ha, almost up 5 c/ha compared to the last year.
According to N.Polyushkin, in the Crimea the general sowing areas of winter and spring crops totaled 719 thsd ha, including the areas of early grains, without maize, rice and sorghum crops, at the level of 695 thsd ha.
Agrarians of the Crimea plan to harvest early grains throughout the area of 681 thsd ha (9% of winter grains show unsatisfactory condition, 2% – perished), including winter wheat – 385 thsd ha, winter barley – 201 thsd ha, spring grains – 94.7 thsd ha.
To date, the forecasts for yield total the level of 24 c/ha, including winter crops – 25-25.5 c/ha, spring grains – 19 c/ha.
The expected production volumes total nearly 1.6-1.66 mln tonnes.
