Ukraine can export about 26 million ton of cereals this year
According to developed by the Ministry forecasted supply and demand balance of cereal for a new MY (July 2012 - June 2013), growth of export is expected; despite the projected reduction of grain harvest in 2012, from last year's 56.7 million tons to 47.2 million tons.
By estimates of Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, forecasted export in 2012/2013 MY includes: wheat export - 8.3 million ton (including food wheat - 6.54 million ton) with expected yield 14.15 million ton (of food wheat - nearly 8, 5 million ton), barley export - about 1.7 million ton with expected yield 6.5 million tons. According to the Ministry, the largest will both exports and yield of Ukrainian corn - nearly 15 million tons and 23.8 million ton respectively. The balance sheets indicate that Ukraine will be able to increase its supply due to transition of grain quantities from previous year to the present one, in amount of 12.6 million ton.
Thus on July 1, 2011 there was 6.2 million ton of stored cereal. The Ministry believes that, total grain supply in 2012/2013 MY including carry-over stock will be almost 60 million ton against 63.12 million ton in the current marketing year. According to Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, domestic demand in new MY will not change compared with the current season and will be 28 million ton.
Earlier, Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhnyuk estimated that grain export will be 20-25 million tons in 2012/2013 MY. In 2011 Ukraine harvested a record 56.7 million ton of grain and that is 44.3% more than in 2010.
