Ukraine. Cabinet predicts grain gross yield within 28.5-29mn tons
The Cabinet of Ministers predicts that the gross yield of early grain crops in Ukraine this year will be 28.5-29 million tons, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Agriculture Viktor Slauta told reporters on Wednesday.
According to him, with the expected yield of cereal crops at 1 million tons, as well as the corn harvest, in 2010 Ukraine will reap 42-43 million tons of grain.
The deputy premier said that the harvesting of early grain crops in Ukraine will be completed this week.
He also noted that the current hot sunny weather in Ukraine in some places has significantly improved the class of grain. "The sunny weather in some regions increased the class of grain. Somewhere 60-65%, and in some regions even 70% of the harvested wheat is the milling wheat," Slauta said.
He emphasized that these indicators will let Ukraine ensure the domestic demand for food and fodder grain, and maintain the export potential of the country.
