During the session on March 30, 2011, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to take decision on prolongation of the export quotas for grains till June 30, declared Nikholay Prysiazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
At the same time, he marked that the Government will state own position concerning the necessity of accepting the draft law on selling the quotas via the auction mechanism. According to the Minister, the quota volumes will be sold in transparent and clear way.
N.Prysiazhnyuk underlined that the quota volumes stayed at the previous level, but quota volumes for maize exports will be increased by 2 mln tonnes. The Minister marked that it is unreasonable to substitute grain quotas for the mechanism of export duties.
Previously, on March 29, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine promulgated the project of decree of the Cabinet of Ministers “On making of amendments to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine #938 dd. October 4, 2010”, which offered to prolong the term of grain quotas till June 30.
The Ministry considers that cancellation of the limitations for grain exports will cause the essential increase of prices for grains on the domestic market. As a reminder, the present regime of grain export quotas to terminate on March 30, 2011.
