Ukraine. Cabinet considers possibility of buckwheat import
The Cabinet considers possibility of buckwheat import, Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a press conference.
"Today, we monitored the markets fully for availability of buckwheat groats. We see that the volumes for today will allow controlling a price for the nearest two to three months. Today, we consider possibility of buckwheat import," he said.
At the same time, according to the Minister, as regards possible buckwheat import, it is related to the fact that the government took a decision on Wednesday that is coordinated with the governors about an increase of the volume of grain sowings, including buckwheat by almost 100,000 ha.
Earlier, the Cabinet instructed the Agrarian Fund in 2011/2012 marketing year (MY, June-June) to purchase 35,280 tons of buckwheat to the state intervention fund.
