Ukraine: as of April 1, grain stocks down 2%
As of April 1, 2011, in Ukraine agricultural enterprises (except of small ones) and grain storage and processing enterprises stocked 10.1 mln tonnes of grains (including 4.4 mln tonnes of wheat, 1.3 mln tonnes of barley, 3.6 mln tonnes of maize, 0.2 mln tonnes of rye), a decrease of 2% compared to April 1, 2010, informed the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine on April 15.
Directly agrarian companies stored 4.4 mln tonnes of grains (down 12%), including 1.7 mln tonnes of wheat, 0.8 mln tonne of barley, 1.5 mln tonnes of maize, 0.1 mln tonnes of rye.
The enterprises, dealing with grain storage and processing, kept 5.7 mln tonnes of grains (up 9%), including directly storing enterprises – 4.1 mln tonnes of grains (up 22%).
Besides, sunflower seeds storing volumes totaled 2.6 mln tonnes (down 1% compared to April 1, 2010). At the same time, directly agrarian enterprises (except of the small ones) stored 0.5 mln tonne (down 30%). The enterprises, dealing with storage and processing, kept 2.1 mln tonnes of sunflower seeds (up 12%).
The domestic consumption of grains in Ukraine is estimated at the level of nearly 26 mln tonnes per year.
