Ukraine: alternate tendencies during the winter sowing campaign
During the current polling of agricultural producers in the bounds of annually conducted study of IA "APK-Inform" named "Ukraine: sowing campaign - 2009. Forecast of harvests of main agricultural crops in Ukraine in 2009", the agency noticed alternate tendencies, which characterize sowing operations of winter crops: wheat and rye.
The same number of respondents declared about the decrease of winter wheat sowing areas as the number that declared about the expansion of sowing areas of the grain. The analogous tendency occurred in rye sowing campaign.
The dominant majority of respondents marked such items as "crop rotation", then "price" and "stable demand" as the main reasons of the growth of sowing areas of winter grains.
At the same time, the negative price also was the main reason of the reduction of winter grains sowing areas.
