Ukraine. 3.1% of winter crops die
As of April 1 this year, winter crops perished on 0.266 million hectares of the 8.56 million hectares sown (3.1% of the acreage), the agricultural policy ministry said quoting regional reports.
Crops on 1.207 million hectares (14.6% of the acreage) are weak and thinned, and about 0.413 million hectares (4.8%) need reseeding.
The ministry says 3.3 million hectares of winter crops (39.9%) are in a good condition, and 3.77 million hectares (45.5%) in a satisfactory.
By April 1, winter wheat perished on 0.2 million hectares (3.1%), and 0.31 million hectares or 4.7% of the total acreage must be reseeded. Meanwhile, 2.59 million hectares (40.1%) of those crops are in a good state, and 2.96 million hectares (45.8%) in a satisfactory.
Winter rape perished on 219,000 hectares, which is 15.4% of its total acreage. Rape on 321,000 hectares (26.8%) is weak and thinned, and reseeding is predicted on 282,000 hectares (19.9%).
