Ugroidy Sugar Refinery acquired by Azerbaijan investor
The administration of the Sumy region has announced the sale of the idle Ugroidy Sugar Refinery to an investor from Azerbaijan which intends to resume production at the enterprise. According to the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Talyat Aliev, Azerbaijanian business circles are interested in development of the sugar industry in the Sumy region and ready to invest USD 1mn (EUR 685,848.17) in this project. In 2010, land is planned to be leased in the region to grow sugar beet. Sugar produced from this beet is to be shipped to the Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian markets.
