In November of the current year a gradual increase of prices for vegetables and apples within 3-7% is forecasted due to completion of the harvesting peak. Increase of price for meat is anticipated as well, since the processing plants will start purchasing products for manufacturing sausage goods for Christmas and New Year holidays that will stimulate expansion of the demand.

The further rise in price for milk is also possible under the influence of cost increase for raw materials, production resources as well as seasonal contraction of production by 15%. The cost of sugar, oil and buckwheat will be relatively stable under the influence of production increase and high season of processing. Significant change in the cost of bread is not anticipated as well.

Price for beef in October as compared with September was not considerably changed due to the slow rate of sales and balancing of supply and demand. At the same time, cost of pork and poultry reduced by 4% and 1% respectively in connection with the demand contraction. In September there was a significant rise in price for live weight pork, leading to reduction of demand and price for this product. The cost of apples rose owing to the increase of more expensive varieties of products that resulted in a slight rise. The cost of milk in October increased by 4%, and it was reasonably anticipated trend developed under the influence of growth of price for raw milk. For the time being, purchase price for the highest quality milk is nearly 8 UAH/kg, at the same time prices for oil, bread and buckwheat have not changed, price for sugar has increased by 2%.

Reference: Association ‘Ukrainian Agribusiness Club’ is introducing monthly monitoring of prices for the basic foodstuffs, i.e. vegetables of ‘borshch set’, apples, meat, milk, oil, sugar, buckwheat and wheat bread. Review is to be prepared at the beginning of each month including analytics of the previous two months and forecast for the current month.
