The grain yield in 2013/14 MY will become one of the largest harvests over the years of independence
During the 2013/14 marketing year, Ukraine plans to harvest about 54.4 million tons of grain crops and exports about 26.3 million tons. This was stated by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB).
Experts of UCAB have made prognoses of total wheat yield on the level of 20 million tons, corn - 25.4 million tons, barley - 7.1 million tons and other crops - 1.9 million tons.
In 2013/14 marketing year is expected to increase grain production by 8.7 million tons, export growth - by 4 million tons. In particular, export of wheat would be 7.5 million tons, corn - 16.5 million tons, barley - about 2 million tons, and other grains - 0.3 million tons.
"The increase in exports associated with a decrease of winter crops losses during wintering, as well as increased productivity. In 2013, an average yield of grain is expected at level of 3,5 t/ha, whereas last year – 3,2 t/ha, "- advisor on agricultural markets of the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" Ihor Ostapchuk says.
