Terrorists will not leave Ukraine without food - Agriculture Ministry
Although the harvest in some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions is difficult due to the fighting in eastern Ukraine, but it is not a threat to food security.
Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Ihor Shvaika told a briefing at the Cabinet on Friday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The only issue with a minus sign concerns those fields, which are now difficult to harvest. These are the fields that are controlled by terrorists who are hiding in the planting or near these fields. But I want to state that the amount of losses that we now estimate is not critical in terms of food security," the Minister said.
He also informed that the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry has a regular working group with the participation of subordinate enterprises, including the State Food and Grain Corporation and the Agrarian Fund of Ukraine to work out the mechanisms needed to ensure food security.
