Sunflower seed oil output will grow in Ukraine - Economic Development and Trade Ministry

 Thanks to the large yield in Ukraine, production of sunflower seed oil will grow to 3.7 million tons.

As the press service of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry informed, in the new 2013/2014 marketing season, the gross yield of sunflower seeds will make up 8.5 million tons, which is 5.5% up against the previous season.
 
The expected volumes of the oil raw materials and available processing capacities will allow increasing vegetable oil production against the previous marketing period by 1.3% to 3.7 million tons, including sunflower seed oil to 3.6 million tons, head of the real economy sector department at the Economic Development and Trade Ministry Oleh Pendzyn has noted.
 
Export and import of vegetable oils, according to the experts forecasts, is expected actually at the level of the previous year marketing season and will be 3.3 million tons and 300,000 tons respectively.
 
Demand for vegetable oil on the domestic market is estimated to the amount of 625,000 tons, out of these, the consumption fund - 585,000 tons, which will provide for the average annual consumption of oil by population at the level of 13kg per head, Pendzyn said.
 
According to the report balance, in the season of 2012/2013, total volume of vegetable oil production in Ukraine made up 3.6 million tons, out of these, 3.5 million tons fall on sunflower seed oil. Over 90% of the internal volume of vegetable oil production was supplied to foreign markets.
