Sunflower harvested on 84% of areas, maize on 40%
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, at present, sunflower is harvested from 84% of areas under crops. Over 40% areas under maize crops are gathered as well. About 5.5mn tons of sunflower and over 4mn tons of maize are totally harvested.
Since the beginning of the new marketing year (July, 1 2009) export of cereals from Ukraine has exceeded 7.5mn tons, including over 4mn tons of wheat, 2.8mn tons of barley and 500,000 tons of maize.
