State Customs Service of Ukraine to launch criminal charges against four grain traders

The State Customs Service of Ukraine launched criminal charges against four grain trading companies: enterprises with foreign investments Serna and Vitalmar Agro, Alfred C. Toepfer International Ltd. (Ukraine) and Agroextra, upon invalid data submittal about exporting grain qualitative parameters.

The State Customs Service specifies that the point of issue is 35 thsd tonnes of grains at the general sum of nearly 7 mln USD.

According to the announcement, Serna, Vitalmar Agro and Agroextra declared about customs clearance of 5 and 6 grade wheat, but at the inquiry progress the Service determined that the wheat volumes had the higher varieties – 2- and 3-grades.

In the case of Alfred C. Toepfer International (Ukraine) the situation is almost reverse: Berdyansk Customs Service states that the company declared 3-grade wheat, meanwhile the real variety totaled 5-grade wheat.

As it was previously announced, on August 11, Andrew Klyuev, the First Vice-Prime Minister, accused the range of grain traders that they abuse during grain exports and stated about the necessity of the State control increase on the domestic grain market. According to him, grain trading enterprises export milling wheat under the guise of feed wheat, and manipulate the prices.
