Sowing of sugar beet and spring crops completed
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine has informed that in 2009 sugar-beet is sown on 330,000 hectares in Ukraine, down 5.7% against the planned index. The expected harvest from the area amounts to 15-16mn tons.
Sowing of spring crops has finished as well. Total area under these crops amounts to 7.625mn hectares. Including winter crops, the area for harvesting totals 15.7mn hectares. According to the ministry, harvest of cereals will amount to 42-43mn tons, maize to 10.5-11mn tons, barley to 10mn tons.
